I hope you’ve been having a lovely start to fall. I’m so excited to share this post with you, as I’ve been a long-time admirer of Voodoo Vixen’s “Katnis dress.” This probably doesn’t surprise you since I’m drawn to anything with a cute retro-inspired cat print.
I first discovered Voodoo Vixen a few years back when I ordered exclusively from Modcloth. After being wooed by their bowling-pin pencil dress, I regularly perused their site, eager to see other gems they’d designed. Voodoo Vixen is a vintage-inspired clothing company centred in East London, and designed by their two designers from LA and London. Their unique novelty prints are designed in-house, and feature anything from cutesy cats to feminine florals. As for sizing, most styles come in a whole range of sizes, from xs-4xl.
The Katnis dress comes in two colourways – green and blue, and retails for £67. This darling frock not only features a unique jagged neckline, pockets, buttons – and of course – a retro-inspired cat print! After careful consideration, I decided on the blue colourway since I knew it would be a great addition to my wardrobe (I tend to have more green than blue, even though I’ve been more drawn to blue of late).
My measurements are B-34, W-25, and H-38, so I opted for the xs, which is in keeping with my other Voodoo Vixen dresses. After slipping this beauty on, I was enchanted by all of the little details, the superb quality, and how well it fit me – I didn’t even have to get it taken in at the waist! The sleeves were nice and roomy instead of too tight, which can be an issue with some sleeved dresses. The dress itself comes with a matching black belt made from the same fabric, but I opted to slip on my white belt instead in order to play up the white in the dress for my blog photos.
At just over 5′ tall, I always have to be conscious of the length of a garment. Fellow short retro-inspired ladies, don’t despair – I was pleased as a peach to discover that this only came to my mid-calf, my favourite length for swing dresses. The material is made out of a thick quality cotton that has some stretch to it, and all of the colours are exceptionally vibrant. I was a bit dismayed that we had such a dry summer here in Canada, but I like how the dark scenery actually highlights the features of this fine frock. I can’t wait to pair this dress with a cute cardigan and nylons so I can incorporate it into my autumn wardrobe. It will certainly brighten up those long, overcast days!
I honestly don’t have anything negative to say about the Katnis dress, other than that I hope Voodoo Vixen comes out with more in even more colourways. I spied a striking red version in their AW16 section of the site that might interest some of you darling ladies!
In the meantime, Voodoo Vixen was kind enough to offer you a code for 20% off your entire order at www.voodoovixen.co.uk from now until October 31st with the code: “Kirstie20.” Happy shopping, dolls!
