Hi dolls!

Welcome back to Part 2 of my overview of Modcloth’s September 2017 collections. Today I am going to take you through some of my favourite pieces from Modcloth’s “Dress Outside the Lines” range. Think autumnal hues, 1950’s college campus feels, and modern accents.

For your reference, I am wearing an XS in the garments and size 6 in the shoes. I stand at an imposing height of 5’0”, and my measurements in inches are B-35, W-25, and H-38.

This first look features several pieces that I know will be my autumn staples. I particularly like the versatility of this range as there’s unlimited styling possibilities and opportunities for mixing and matching!

The Charter School Turtleneck Sweater in Red  is made of a stretchy, comfortable material (80% Acrylic, 18% Nylon, 2% Spandex). Available in sizes XXS – 4X, this autumn staple boasts muted salmony undertones – making it a unique addition to my wardrobe. With long sleeves and a non-constrictive neck, this fitted sweater is the perfect definition of cozy chic. The Charter School Turtleneck also comes in a jet black colourway and retails for $39.99 USD. Modcloth recommends that this item be handwashed so that it maintains its quality.

I’m quite pleased with Modcloth’s focus on jumpers this fall, and the A-Line Corduroy Jumper with Pockets certainly does not disappoint. Available in sizes XXS – 4X, this piece by Modcloth’s namesake label is sure to be a favourite for many.  The A-Line Corduroy Jumper features both front and back pockets (hooray!), as well as a cute stitched “MC” at the back. But what’s most impressive about this piece are the little details: it offers a side button closure so that you can slip right in without fear of getting stuck or ripping the fabric (which is especially nice since it tapers in at the waist); there are adjustable button straps; and of course, the finishing touch is a feminine ribbon belt.

The Authentically Academic Bag in Teal is a structured bag that screams “I mean business, but yes, I will look cute while doing so.” Retailing for $59.99, this colourful bag (teal, mustard, and rich browns) has ample space for my daily planner, wallet, cellphone, and any other important little knick-knacks I may need (lipstick and candy bars, anyone?). Featuring a zipper closure, this academic bag also has a magnetic button clasp and a removable adjustable shoulder strap. For those who like to buy cruelty-free – the Authentically Academic Bag is made of a high quality man-made material – not leather.

The Fox Faces Pullover Sweater  is another proud design by Modcloth’s namesake label. This darling piece is available in sizes XXS – 4X, with three-quarter sleeves, a crimson backdrop, and adorable mustard fox faces reminiscent of internet sensation, Juniper Fox. Retailing for $54.99 USD, the Fox Faces Pullover Sweater is made of a thick, 100% cotton material, making it both high-quality and warm for those brisk autumn walks. I can’t wait to pair it with the A-Line Corduroy Jumper for extra foxy-feels. Modcloth does recommend that this item be handwashed.IMG_2325IMG_2347

The Fall Potluck Overalls in Dusk are made of a soft, stretchy velvet fabric by Modcloth’s own namesake label and retailing for $79.99. Available in sizes XXS – 4X, these midnight blue hued overalls feature a handy side button closure, adjustable straps with hook and button closure, and of course, pockets! The Fall Potluck Overalls are quite fitted, which is my personal preference for clothes – I particularly like how it tapers in at the waist while accommodating for my wider hips. But perhaps most importantly,  the Fall Potluck Overalls are both cute and comfy.

The Only a Dapper of Time Loafer in Oxblood  are very smart looking, structured, and high quality loafers made of a man-made material, not leather. Retailing for $59.99 USD, these oxblood hued shoes come in sizes 5.5 through 11. Modcloth’s website cautions that the pair runs small and to order up. However, I ordered my regular size 6 and these lofty loafers fit perfectly.

Last, but definitely not least, I have to mention The Strong, Silent Stripe Tights in Brick. Available in “One Size”, Modcloth recommends these vibrant patterned tights best fits heights between 5’0” and 5’10” and hip sizes between 43 and 42 inches. Regularly retailing for $12.99 USD, Modcloth iscurrently having promotion on now where you can purchase with 2 pairs of tights for $20. How perfect is that, considering the Strong, Silent Stripe Tights also come in navy.IMG_2194

All in all I am very pleased with Modcloth’s Dress Outside the Lines collection. It’s clear to me that Modcloth truly understands the modern woman, particularly by prioritizing making pieces with pockets, recognizing how important it is for us to wear styles that are both cute and practical. The attention to detail with button closures and other embellishments brings style with a view to the past to a modern level, for a perfect meeting of minds. What are you most taken with from this collection? Let me know in the comments below. And stayed tuned for Part 3 of Modcloth’s September 2017 collection!

And thank you to my wonderful friend Amanda for your patience and artistic eye in taking these snapshots!
