Welcome to the third installment of my 3-part series on Modcloth’s September 2017 collections! If you haven’t had a chance to catch the first two posts, you can access the Fall Essentials collection here, and the Dress Outside the Lines collection here.
As always, here are my sizing details for your reference: I am wearing an XS and I stand at the ultra imposing height of 5’0”. My measurements in inches are B-35, W-25, and H-38.
Now let’s jump right into it!
With Halloween just around the corner, and the first days of fall upon us, I think we all are feeling a bit spooky. What better way to celebrate this special time of year than embracing your inner gothic enchantress? I’m sure I am not the only one who happens upon a white collared blackdress and has instant nostalgia for the Addams Family Values – particularly for the grim and ghostly pig-tailed vixen, Wednesday Addams. And the Collectif Make My Wednesday Fitted Midi Dress, with its structured stark white forward-point collar, rigid puff sleeves, and raven-black body is no exception! In fact, this ghoulish garment has hints of gothic glamour, a stiff nod to the victorian era. This is most notably evidenced by the detailing around the collar and sleeves.
However, what gives this piece a more modern twist are its front-facing pockets. Since the dress is black, you don’t really notice this detail until up close, but the way the pockets are angled actually creates the illusion of a tinier waist. The Make My Wednesday dress comes in sizes XS – XL and retails for $64.99 USD. This dress can be machine washed and features a zipper closure at the back. The wiggle style of the Make My Wednesday Dress gives it that much needed slight 50’s elegance. I like to joke that this is how I imagine Wednesday Addams’ style to evolve when she’s “all grown up.”
Made with lots of stretch, the Make My Wednesday dress is a showstopper, hugging and accentuating every curve in just the right place. I love anything that’s fitted and nips in my waist, and this dress definitely delivers, ensuring it will be a piece I grab not just over the Halloween season, but well into the winter too.
The Intricately Exquisite Tights in black add some gothic realness to everyday styles. I cannot wait to pair these beauties with my Homecoming ‘Round the Mountain sweater. Made of a thick and stretchy nylon and spandex, these beauties come both in “One Size” (pictured here and recommended for persons between 90lbs and 160lbs) and “Extended Size” (best recommended for persons between 150lbs and 200lbs). What’s most striking about the Intricately Exquisite Tights are how the delicate floral pattern changes to a classic fishnet mid-thigh, giving them a more edgy vibe. As always with delicates, the Intricately Exquisite Tights should be handwashed. These tights are also included in Modcloth’s current 2 pairs of tights for $20 promotion!
Changing pace here, there’s no way I could do a review of Modcloth’s Witch, Please collection without mentioning the My Style Mews Socks! Made in one size, these adorable partially sheer socks feature the darling face of a little black kitty. If I’m completely honest, I have been eyeing these FOREVER but for some silly reason, never took the plunge. I am so glad that I did because these are even more adorable in person. I picture myself pairing them with a black t-strap shoe and my classic black and white Record Time dress as the seasons wares on! Right now Modcloth is still having their promotion on for socks and tights – you can snag a pair of these bad boys and another fun pair of socks for $15 USD. On their own the My Style Mews socks retail for $9.99 USD.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, Modcloth is having a promotion over the next TWO days to celebrate the changing of seasons: you can snag 40% off orders of $250+, 30% off orders of $150+ and 25% off everything!
